Mahalo Crafters!

We will like to thank all those who participated in the UH Manoa Bookstore Make & Take Craft workshop on Monday, March 1, 2010.  There was a great turn out of participants, and for many, this was their first Make & Take Craft workshop.  Each person created their own Japanese Origami Bookmarker and enjoyed homemade chi chi dango made especially by Gail Tamura from our Cashier's Department.

Special mahalo to Gail Tamura for making her delicious chi chi dango; Jill Honda for providing the candy and various supplies, as well as helping the crafters with their bookmarkers ; Tradebook Department in supplying the origami paper; and the Receiving Department in the helping of setting up and breaking down the tables and chairs.  We would also like to thank Dee Gushiken for being our photographer and assisting the crafters with their work.  This wouldn't have been successful without teamwork and especially the joyful spirits of our participants.

Congratulations to the University of Hawai'i Authors

I wanted to congratulate and thank all the University of Hawai'i authors who participated in the 2nd Annual UH Authors' Festival at Kuykendall Hall.  It was nice to hear those interesting comments about their books.

Wednesday, September 16, 2009

Aloha Book Owls,

The University of Hawai'i Authors' Festival will be on September 17, 2009 outside the Kuykendall Hall Auditorium from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.  There will be 28 authors who published their books within the last year.  See you there!

Also, on September 15, the first day of his release of "The Lost Symbol," Dan Brown sold 1 million copies.  Just phenomenal news for the book industry.  Our Tradebook Department at the University of Hawai'i Bookstore at Manoa still has copies available for sale.  Just give us a hoot at 956-4338.

Aloha a Hui Hou,

Ka Pueo Puke
